A Moment of Calm
Drawing Clouds

Take a piece of paper and a pen, pencil or crayon.

Sit somewhere that you can look out of the window.

Have a long look at the clouds.

Notice their bumps and contours, their shadows and brightness.

Where do the edges meet the sky and where do they overlap?

The goal of this exercise is to spend a short amount of time gently focusing on what you can see.

So, take your paper and pen and draw the clouds. There are four prompts below for your drawings.

  1. Draw the clouds with your stronger hand

  2. Draw the clouds with your less strong hand

  3. Draw the clouds with one continuous line

  4. Draw the clouds without looking at the page

It's absolutely ok if you make a mess!

Here on the right are the drawings that The Meeting Post contributor, Becca, made from her window.
